Dental Bridge Types at Kılınç Dental Clinic

At Kılınç Dental Clinic, we offer various types of dental bridge treatments to restore the natural attractiveness of missing teeth in the oral vicinity.

1- Traditional Dental Bridge

A traditional dental bridge consists of 3 to 4 consecutive crowns. To be suitable for traditional bridges, you need to have healthy teeth at each end of the gap, or even dental implants. Why? Because your dentist will bond the crowns or dental implants at both ends of each gap. So, if a dental bridge consists of 4 crowns, two of them will emerge to fill the gaps, while the last and first ones will be bonded onto adjacent teeth or implants.

Traditional dental bridges are most suitable for posterior teeth.

2- Maryland Dental Bridge

A Maryland dental bridge comes in the form of a tooth with wing-like metals on both sides. The Marlyland bridge replaces a missing space and holds its cap by bonding its wings behind the adjacent teeth. Similar to traditional dental bridges, you need to have teeth or dental implants on both sides of the gap.

The Maryland bridge is best suited for the front teeth visible when you smile. This is because they lack the force required for molar teeth.

3- Cantilever Dental Bridge

With a cantilever bridge, the structure comes in the form of a tooth crown attached to a single tooth. The tooth replaces a missing space and gains support by bonding its adjacent crown onto a neighboring tooth or dental implant.

Cantilever dental bridges are best suited for canine teeth or those near the canines. They are suitable only if a single tooth is missing.

They are not suitable for posterior teeth because the pressure and force on molar teeth are too high. In other words, cantilever dental bridges cannot withstand this force.

Procedure

The procedure begins with your dentist evaluating your oral health. You need to address any underlying issues before placing the bridge.

Then comes the assessment of your mouth and missing teeth. You need to have teeth at both ends of the gap. Otherwise, your dentist will recommend implantation first because traditional dental bridges need to be bonded onto dental implants or natural teeth.

Next is the step of selecting material for your bridge. We have a comprehensive collection at Kılınç Dental Clinic. Our dentists will recommend the best material for you based on:

- Allergy history

- Price range

- Aesthetic goals

Afterward, our dentists will take impressions of your mouth and send these details to a manufacturer. You can have your custom bridge within a few weeks.

If you want a same-day dental bridge, consider our CEREC technology.

How Long Do Dental Bridges Last?

Like dental implants, bridges have a maximum lifespan of up to 15 years. However, various factors such as improper care and poor dental hygiene can affect the lifespan of a dental bridge.

Benefits

A dental bridge is a restorative treatment that replaces missing teeth, addressing many problems caused by tooth loss. These include:

- Correcting speech problems and pronunciation

- Restoring the aesthetic appeal of your smile

- Improving chewing

- Improving biting and adjusting force distribution along the jawline

- Preventing the movement of your teeth due to long-term tooth loss
